Happy Juneteenth!! ✊🏾❤️🖤💚✊🏾

Now before we start debating on freedom day, we can just respect the fact that Black America has 5 different flags (and a possible) to choose from when celebrating Juneteenth.

❤️ The Pan-African flag created by Marcus Garvey in 1920.
🖤 The Black American Heritage flag created by Melvin Charles and Gleason Jackson in 1967.
💚 The African-American flag created by David Hammons in 1990
🌟 The official red, white, and blue Juneteenth flag created by Boston Ben Haith in 1997. Date added to the flag in 2007.
🇺🇲 if you bout that life
💛 And the one with yellow and RBG that has many different variations which are wider Pan-African colors and Rasta colors

Whichever one you connect to, CELEBRATE with it! 🥳🥳🥳

For me, it's the RBG colors on the stars and stripes created in 1990.

The red, white, and blue has never sat well in my spirit (even more so when I researced the symbolism of the colors for 🇺🇲 and 🇬🇧). I don't claim my nationality proudly. However, I will never deny that my family is at least 5 generations American. Pre-Civil War American. An America that did not and still doesn't respect our humanity.

So as my ancestors built this country from the ground up, I very proudly claim my ethnicity. I am Black American of African descent. ✊🏾

The RBG stars and stripes very loudly claims that specific identity.

And I use it to celebrate Juneteenth, Kwanzaa, MLK Day, and Malcolm X Day. Black American holidays.

💗♾️ Polyamorous and Marriage Moment 👰🏾‍♀️🤵🏿‍♂️

Question from the polyam community:

"Increasingly, my two partners who aren’t my spouse have been following this pattern when I ask for them to schedule time together.

Me: “Hey, are you free XYZ day? Would you be interested in spending time with me that day?”
Partner: “Oh, maybe! Let me check with my spouse, and I’ll get back to you!”

These are both people who each claim to try their best to dismantle couples privilege, as I also do. That’s an important value for me in a partner. But I feel like I’m the only one actively trying to dismantle couples/married privilege, and their actions are at odds with their words. It also makes me feel like I’m just a backup plan when the ‘preferred’ partner isn’t available, which feels very not good, and I’ve tried to gently tell them that."

My response:

The reason my husband checks with me is cause I manage our family schedule

Their response:

"that must be a lot of labor on you. And if they’re actively poly and yet abdicating responsibility for handling their schedules to their wives, then I’m actually kind of annoyed with my partners on my metas’ behalf too. Because that isn’t fair."

My response:

I actually prefer it. There are plenty of other mental load stuff I have issues with. This isn't one of them

Because I'm a planner and organizer, I'm a stay home mom who is homeschooling. And I created my own curriculum. I am preparing to be the Matriarch for the generations that come from me. This is my strength and my leadership.

And I have been preparing for this personally and professionally majority of my life.

I also see the value of household management just as I see it for business management (I'm the COO for my husband and I's business too)

Also for clarity, I'm not managing my husband's schedule with his partner. I'm managing my schedule, our daughter's schedule, and family time schedule. My husband checks in for where he is needed and says when he's tryna link up with people. But I do plan when he can have me days (cause he wasn't. And I for sure as hell plan mine). I do not schedule anything else for him.

He sees his partner after work during the week usually. We be busy with the family schedule on the weekends

Our daughter is 3. And it doesn't matter when she's a teenager, we are still gonna be doing s**t. Wtf yall be on?
