This year, for Giving Tuesday, we want to highlight the work of these incredible mutual aid organizations and encourage our community to support them. As our government actively persecutes trans people, immigrants, and people in Gaza, among many others, it is up to our communities to build networks of support and protection.

We want to take this opportunity to recognize the tragic passing of Chef Mahmoud Almadhoun, the founder of the Gaza Soup Kitchen, who was killed by an Israeli airstrike on Saturday, November 30th. “Mahmoud’s absence will be felt in every corner of our lives. He will be deeply missed, not only by his family but also by the thousands of families in North Gaza who depended on his unwavering support,” Hani Almadhoun wrote in a tribute to his brother.

As the year comes to a close, we want to emphasize the importance of mutual aid, a driving focus of TurnOut’s work. This is far from an exhaustive list, so please comment and tag other organizations that our community can support on Giving Tuesday.

Today, for Transgender Day of Remembrance, we come together in community to honor, grieve, and commemorate our beloved transgender siblings that we have lost to anti-trans violence.

We recognize the disproportionate number of Black and Brown trans folks who have been targeted for their identities. We must remain intersectional in our work to ensure these disparities do not go unseen.

On this day, and year-round, we can uplift and directly support our transgender family through mutual aid to individuals, trans-led organizations, and by mobilizing our community to fight for justice and safety for the trans community.

Some organizations that support, uplift, and protect the trans community are , , , , , , , & more. Let’s commit to supporting organizations like these year-round.

We are here to support you and stand together in remembrance on this day.
