Over the past 8 months our second Environmental Justice Cohort has been learning about air quality, health impacts, and community solutions for East Oakland. Though the program has ended we want to shoutout all of our amazing participants and guest presenters who have supported the program! We can’t wait to continue our fight for clean air and environmental justice in our communities!

HOPE Collaborative’s Young Adult Leadership Program (YALP) has opened up the opportunity for one young adult leader person age (18-24) to work alongside HOPE staff to support youth outreach and engagement focused on Oakland parks, public spaces, accessibility, and community wellbeing.

The selected YALP member will receive training in community engagement strategies including facilitation, outreach, project planning, and youth leadership development. With support from HOPE’s staff, the YALP member will help develop and lead outreach activities with Oakland youth throughout the summer in collaboration with the East Bay Regional parks District.

The YALP member will also support a small working group of high school youth involved in outreach and engagement efforts across East and West Oakland.

Program Timeline: June 8th, 2026 - August 31st, 2026
Time Commitment: 7.5 hours per week. Hours are flexible and can be completed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for in person work, with the option for occasional independent remote work.

Compensation: $500/month

Compensation will be distributed at the conclusion of the program.
