"Which 3rd party warranty should I purchase to cover my car?"
This is one of the most frequent questions I get from friends and at at all three of my workshops, so here are a few points to keep in mind when deciding:

1. If you have a dependable workshop that you like to use for maintenance and repair of your vehicles, they should be your first call. Any reputable shop that accepts 3rd party warranty coverage will have useful experience with the easiest, most cooperative companies to deal with throughout the repair process and who more thoroughly cover client claims for needed work. They will also tell you the warranty companies to AVOID, and there are many of them.

2. In our experience, the best coverages are offered by companies that most consumers have never heard of and the best warranty companies tend not to advertise or use celebrity endorsements. They have solid actuarial data and pay out for reasonable, legitimate claims, not for high-dollar, famous spokespeople.

3. Good warranty coverage from a reputable company is not cheap, but the adage "you get what you pay" for is not accurate in the auto warranty world because a cheap policy from a difficult company can often leave the policyholder with little to no help for a major repair. You may get nothing in return for your premium payments on a low quality warranty.
