You know you bought the perfect house for you from the perfect sellers when your stuff and their stuff seems to have always been together. This is the most magical house. A stone guest house, a hidden writer's cottage in the back complete with a wood stove that we didn't even know was on the property and, of course, the most brilliantly original interior. The floors are end grain 2x4's. I can't wait to meet the son of the. Builder who grew up here. I still have about 100 boxes to unpack and we have to have new appliances installed and the bathrooms -which most people would rip out and redo-;are getting tasteful upgrades like a soaking tub in one, a stone shower in the other. But all the weirdly wonderful details shall remain and be preserved. Not only am I HOME in Massachusetts, but I am HOME in a house that's simultaneously deeply familiar and entirely unknown to me.

It took many grueling months and significant anxiety, but the universe granted us our wish and we have just moved into the most magnificent, gorgeous, eccentric, fascinating house that happena to be a 14 minute drive from our shop; versus 1.40.

The house is so off the charts in every way. Built in 1971 by a window designer and self trained architect and builder. It's just a masterpiece of creative brilliance and I cannot believe we ended up being able to own it.

I'm dealing with about 340 boxes and I'm still making a few small revisions on my manuscript, but I'll share some photos of the house soon.

It feels amazing to be back in MY HOME TOWN.
