Monthly Home Maintenance Checklist

Clean your furnace filter to remove dust buildup.

Check the water softener and replenish salt if needed.

Clean faucet aerators and showerheads to remove mineral deposits.

Inspect and unclog your tub and sink drains.

Test smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and all ground-fault circuit interrupters.

Inspect all of your electrical cords for any wear and tear.

Vacuum all heat registers and heat vents.

Make sure indoor and outdoor air vents are not blocked.

Flush out hot water from the water heater to remove accumulated sediment.

Clean your garbage disposal.

Terry's Tuesday Tip:

To maintain an Ohio home during rainy months, prioritize clearing gutters and downspouts to prevent water from entering the basement. Ensure gutters are clear of debris and that downspouts extend at least \(3\) to \(4\) feet away from the foundation. Test the sump pump, seal exterior gaps, and monitor for mold in basements or attics.

Remember last week when we said you should check/inspect your attic? This is a recent home inspection where they have a family of raccoons making their home in the attic and the insulation is the bathroom!
