It’s officially summertime at NPL! We had a blast dancing, crafting, and playing at our Summer Kickoff Party last night! Special thanks to Laura Doherty Music for bringing the musical vibes for the evening! We’re excited to Plant a Seed, Read with you all summer long!

Starting in 45 minutes at 5 pm in our parking lot! Come out and enjoy the official beginning of Summer Reading 2026!!
Please note: parking in the library lot itself is limited, but there is FREE parking in the College Ave Deck after 5pm!
Help us kick off Summer Reading 2026 with a joyful concert from Chicago family music favorites, Laura Doherty & the Heartbeats on Monday, June 1 at 5 pm!
Laura has performed at top family venues and festivals across the country, including Ravinia, Lollapalooza, Old Town School of Folk Music, SXSW and more. Her interactive shows feature catchy tunes, her adorable animal puppet characters Domingo the Flamingo and Jazzasaurus, and plenty of sing-along fun.
In addition to the concert, library staff will provide fun activities for all ages. Register for the summer reading program at the event!
Bay Area Mexicana will be on-site with their food truck if you want to purchase dinner.
