Widely scattered strong to severe storms will become increasingly likely in the 5-7 PM timeframe in the areas highlighted on the map. The most intense storms will be capable of wind gusts up to 55 to 70 mph and hail up to 1.5 inches.

We could still see a few stronger storms this afternoon, but higher chances for severe weather arrive late tonight and last into early Friday morning. Large hail, damaging winds, and localized flooding are the primary threats, though a tornado cannot be ruled out.

A recent dumpster fire is believed to have been caused by improperly discarded fireworks. Please soak used fireworks with water before throwing them away, keep a hose or bucket nearby, and clean up all debris.
