Houdini's journey to S&D almost didn't happen 🤎🐴

Before arriving in California, Houdini suffered a significant laceration while at the feedlot after being injured in the pasture during the night.

After the injury, the feedlot team called Sonja to ask if she still wanted to move forward with the purchase. She said yes.

What happened next was something we're incredibly grateful for. Rather than removing him from the list, the feedlot team stepped in and provided treatment for a week while he healed.

They carefully monitored the wound, treated it with Blue Coat to protect the injury and repel flies, and kept a close eye on his recovery. A big thank you to Bowie Texas Livestock for helping with his recovery.

While flesh wounds can look dramatic, they're often very treatable when infection is prevented and proper care is provided. Thankfully, Houdini responded well to treatment and was healthy enough to make the trip west.

Today, we're getting to know the horse beyond the story. A gentle old soul with kind eyes, a sweet disposition, and a bright future ahead of him.

Watching Houdini comfortably explore the pasture alongside the other horses is a reminder of how quickly a life can change when given care, patience, and a second chance 💛
