The type of security force brutalizations of the civilian population that we have been seeing in Minneapolis and elsewhere in the United States are also wrong in other parts of the world, too. Our forces and those of our allies have been perpetrating these abuses all over. You cannot condemn it here and endorse it there.

US conservatives and centrists want you to believe that the "reasonable" position on immigrants who have committed extreme crimes is to drop them off in a different country where they can continue to commit horrifying crimes, destabilize those countries, and then eventually make their way back to the US anyway. They think this is self-evidently rational compared to just leaving them in US prisons for as long as we would a US-born person who did the same things.
