"Still we make rules and put some in and others out. Why do we do this when Jesus was so clear - the only rule is to love? Wouldn’t it be easier not to have rules? Well, yes, and no. Yes, if we really want to follow Jesus, if we’re willing to have all our human norms and ways of looking at the world and definitions of success thrown out with the rule books. No, if we want things to go on as they always have, with some on top, some on the bottom, some in, or some out. What was the reality show where the host would say, “You’re either in or you’re out”? And while that’s fine in a competition, do we really want life itself to be a competition? Do some have to be out so others may be in?"
