Sensory & Cooperative Play (Mud Exploration)

This hands-on sensory activity supports children’s development across multiple domains through open-ended exploration with natural materials. By engaging in mud play, children strengthen fine motor skills as they scoop, mix, and manipulate textures using their hands and tools. This activity also promotes creativity and imaginative thinking, allowing children to explore cause-and-effect concepts such as wet vs. dry consistency and texture changes.

Social-emotional development is enhanced as children work alongside peers, practicing cooperation, communication, and turn-taking. Educators facilitate this experience by encouraging language development through descriptive vocabulary (e.g., sticky, smooth, wet, thick) and open-ended questioning.

Additionally, outdoor sensory play supports physical development and provides opportunities for children to connect with their environment in a meaningful, engaging way. Teachers maintain a safe and supervised setting while allowing for child-led exploration, fostering independence and confidence.

CKC Academy is excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss Week with a week full of reading, creativity, and silly fun!

Throughout the week, our classrooms will enjoy classic Dr. Seuss stories, themed activities, dress-up days, art projects, and hands-on learning experiences inspired by some of our favorite books.

This celebration encourages a love of reading, builds early literacy skills, and sparks imagination in a fun and engaging way.
