This came up during my last refresher class, and I wanted to share it because it may help you.
If your security guard license is about to expire, or has already expired, and you haven’t completed your refresher courses yet, You’re not alone.
You have up to six months from the expiration date to renew your license.
A common mistake is waiting until after completing the refresher courses to submit the renewal application. This can delay the process, since you then have to wait for your paperwork to be mailed, received, and processed.

If your license is expired or close to expiring, submit your renewal application now with the $25 fee.
The state will hold your application until your refresher courses are completed.
Once your courses are uploaded into the system, your renewal will be processed automatically.
This can save you about a week or more in waiting time after completing your classes.
