Street Smart NJ is a statewide public education campaign that aims to make our streets safer by changing the behaviors that contribute to pedestrian-vehicle crashes. Street Smart is New Jersey’s first statewide pedestrian safety campaign to educate pedestrians and motorists about making safety a priority whether walking or driving. The Campaign is coordinated by NJTPA and supported by the Federal Highway Administration, NJ Department of Transportation, and NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

Rectangular rapid flashing beacons help improve pedestrian safety. The flashing lights alert drivers to stop until everyone has crossed. NJ law requires drivers to stop for people crossing in marked crosswalks.

If you see a cyclist, slow down! Bicyclists are most often killed by drivers who strike them with the front of their vehicle at high speeds. Avoid tragedy:
