Hillsborough College (HC) has a Full-Time opening for a tenure track faculty in the Medical Lab Science program. Working with the Program Director, you will be involved in continuing the guidance of one of the most dynamic Health Sciences programs at HC.
Preference will be given to candidates who are fully qualified.
· Requirements:
o Masters’ degree Medical Laboratory Scientist or related field
o Knowledgeable of current Medical Laboratory Science practice
o The faculty must demonstrate effectiveness in instruction, curriculum design, program planning, evaluation, and academic advisement
o Hold a current ASCP-BOC U.S. generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist
o Willing to obtain a Florida License
o Have clinical experience in the Medicine lab
· Preferred individuals who have expertise in:
o Blood Bank
o Microbiology
o Molecular

POCT Program Coordinator position at RWJ Medical School in New Brunswick. You would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the point-of-care testing
programs administered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine within Rutgers RWJMS. This role ensures
the quality, compliance, and effectiveness of decentralized outpatient laboratory POCT testing conducted outside the central
lab. Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, and POCT Director, the POCT Program Coordinator will work closely
with testing personnel and clinicians to ensure maintaining regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission),
standardizing testing procedures, and promoting patient safety through accurate and reliable test results. The Coordinator
will collaborate with clinical and laboratory teams and drive continuous improvement in the POCT program to support patient
care. This position requires strict adherence to Rutgers-RWJMS Compliance requirements and to all HIPAA requirements,
as implemented.
Qualifications:
• Certification & Licensure: MLS(ASCP) certification (Medical Laboratory Scientist, certified by the ASCP Board
of Certification) is required. This credential demonstrates the required knowledge of clinical laboratory science and
regulatory standards.
• Clinical Laboratory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of clinical laboratory practices and point-of-care testing
methodologies. Strong working knowledge of CLIA regulations, CAP accreditation standards, and Joint Commission
requirements as they pertain to laboratory and point-of-care testing.
• Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities. Capable of managing multiple
POCT sites and responsibilities simultaneously, ensuring that all program elements (training, QC, maintenance, etc.) stay
on schedule and in compliance. Attention to detail is critical for maintaining documentation and identifying issues in QC
or competency records.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical and problem-solving mindset, especially in troubleshooting instrument problems or
investigating quality issues. Able to analyze data (QC trends, error logs, etc.) to make informed decisions and improvements.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with common computer software and laboratory information systems.
Comfortable using data management tools and instrument interfaces related to POCT devices. Familiarity with POCT
device connectivity and data download processes is a plus.
• Commitment to Quality and Safety: A strong commitment to patient safety, quality assurance, and continuous
improvement. Must demonstrate professional integrity, follow ethical standards, and always ensure confidentiality of
patient information.
Required Education and Experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field from an
accredited institution is required. (A bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science may be acceptable with
appropriate laboratory experience.)
• Certification: Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP is required (or
equivalent MT/CLS certification). This certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required, including experience
with point-of-care testing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have progressive experience, such as serving as a POCT
Coordinator, Lead Medical Technologist, or in another supervisory role within the laboratory or point-of-care testing
program. Candidates familiar with Epic/Beaker and Telcor are preferred.
• Supervisory Experience: Prior experience in supervising staff or managing laboratory projects is required or
strongly preferred. The candidate should demonstrate experience in training personnel, implementing new tests or
instruments, or leading quality improvement initiatives in the laboratory.
