Lead Graffiti’s “PleaseTeleport.me” poster is included in “New Impressions,” an international juried exhibition showcasing exploration and creativity with letterpress printing techniques sponsored by . The call attracted 253 diverse entries from around the globe. The final 41 works on display are from artists in Brazil, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States. The exhibition is on display at Hamilton from April 8–June 30, 2022 with the reception and awards on May 21. There will be a virtual reception via Zoom on June 25 at 12pm Central.

Photo 1 is an online view of some of the work from the exhibition.

Photo 2 is our winning entry.

Photo 3 is a production shot of us trying to get the 30 vertical inches of type in the right place on the poster.

If you are interested you should go to the Hamilton Wood Type Museum and find the link to the included work. There is some seriously nice work. A good 15 of them are absolutely fabulous.

Lead Graffiti is contributing a letterpress demonstration to The Delaware Contemporary ART pARTy’s festivities on Saturday, April 9th, 6-9pm. We’ve locked up 3 good ART quotes from RembrAndt, Henri MAtisse, and ChArles Bukowski. For stock we are using our INK PULLS. Interested participants will choose from the ink pull inventory and then choose the quote they want printed on it. The ink color will be silver, both to overprint the ink pulls opaquely and so it will dry faster than our normally used rubber-based inks. This event will be similar to a letterpress demo we did 2 years ago with the Winterthur Museum’s TERRIFIC TUESDAYS.

The wood & metal type lock-up image shown here is one of Jill’s contributions.

For the past decade, the Chesapeake Chapter of the American Printing History Association had produced a calendar they sell to support their cause. The image shows Ray’s interpretation for January’s 2022.

Ray likes taking the opportunity to experiment with how a calendar both works and looks. FYI we asked our 9-year-old granddaughter what day of the month the 3rd Wednesday of January was and she gave us the right answer in about 8 seconds.

After 2 years of Covid messing with our sense of time (we can never seem to remember what day of the week it is anymore), this year and the fact that he had January allowed us the opportunity to play with STARTING THE YEAR RIGHT.

Lead Graffiti also does the punching and wire binding for the calendar. The whole year is for sale for $25 with free shipping. Go to “printinghistory.com” and look up the Chesapeake Chapter. There is a link in the righthand column.

Just for the record, we are vaccinated and boosted. If you aren’t fully vaccinated, January 1st would be a good day to get that started. If you are a letterpress printer it would be a good year to join APHA and commit an extra effort to keeping letterpress history alive.
