Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Theft Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. seeks the public’s help identifying the suspect pictured below, who took a victim’s wallet on May 1, 2025.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., the victim was walking in the 200 block of Lafayette Street when the suspect took his wallet from his pocket and fled. The suspect, a Black male with dreadlocks, wore a black sweater, black pants, and a black ski mask

The Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
