That's why I keep all types of tub spouts in my truck.. This pipe was just 1 3/4" long that was too short for the most of spouts.

Replacing 3" copper pipe 3 months ago.. I used my drill with 3" grinder blade on a piece of allthread rod as an inside cutter in a tight space. But first I started to cut the pipe using my mini angle grinder.

I have to say this Hot Block works so great! No burning wood anymore! And now I don't have to solder first and then put tape WITH dope on my next threaded fitting which made me to measure the pipe between the fittings twice..
And no overheated ball valves anymore!!!
