Response to School Board Voting Criticism

It's been brought to my attention that my opponent criticized me for not voting in this year's school board election-implying that I don't care about local issues.

The truth is: I care deeply. I was in labor days prior to the election and was readmitted on Election Day. Like so many women across our state, I was balancing the incredible joy of welcoming a child with the very real dangers and uncertainties that can come with childbirth-especially for Black women.

As someone who served on the Delaware Healthy Mother and Infant Consortium, I've worked on the front lines of maternal health policy in Delaware. I know the statistics: Women of color are more likely to experience life-threatening complications during and after childbirth. And I lived that reality just weeks ago and survived an even more complicated situation with my first child.

That's why I believe in laws that expand access to early voting and protect reproductive freedom. Because life gets complicated. And when it does, our systems need to meet people where they are-not shame them for it.

I'm proud of my record of public service, my commitment to this community, and the example I'm setting for my two sons. I will always show up with transparency and humanity—and I'll never apologize for putting my family's health first.

This is exactly why I'm running: to bring common sense, compassion, and steady leadership to Dover.

With hope,
