Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act targets LGBTQIA+ communities and strips political representation, safety, and security, leaving many—especially trans people—exposed to trauma, violence, discrimination, and a lack of resources to keep them safe. In response, organizations like the Trans Alliance Anna Foundation (TAAF Uganda) are building sanctuary to address this urgent need.

TAAF Uganda, founded by Anna Morena, is a trans-led organization supporting, uplifting, and working to end gender-based violence against trans women across East Africa.

The organization connects trans communities across Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda, addressing violence, exclusion, and criminalization. Their work prioritizes grassroots leadership, amplifies trans women's voices, and is grounded in the urgent need for safety, visibility, and collective action.
