Happy Miku Day!! (3/9) I have to admit, I’m really glad that Miku made her comeback. For a while there, it felt like Vocaloid’s popularity was getting overshadowed during the Great Shift (I think that’s what millennial weebs call the moment where anime became mainstream), but luckily TikTok brought it back! I think. I actually don’t know exactly what made Vocaloid popular again, but I think it’s fair to attribute it to TikTok’s short form content clipping snippets of Vocaloid songs (i.e. “Miku, Miku, you can call me Miku.”).

The part about the Vocaloid Renaissance that’s surprising me, however, is that the actual Vocaloids (Crypton Future Media) are becoming the underdogs to Utaite! 😭 I never would have imagined Teto would become a sensation. BUT GOOD FOR HER!! And good for the internet to latch onto an ADULT character for once. Anyways, that’s my Miku Day speech.
