“Every exit is an entrance somewhere else.” - Tom Stoppard
That’s what I posted one year ago, when I moved my studio and sadly closed the doors to Brooklyn Stitchery. I saw the exit, but didn’t know where the entrance would be, but the pandemic walked me into Sew Right’s door (to get my machines serviced!). They needed a teacher and I wanted to continue to teach in person, so it was a match. I am now officially a part of the Sew Right family. Along with teaching, I help to write their weekly emails and posts for social media, and now you will see me working in the store on Thursdays.
Sew Right has become my new happy place 🤗 and I hope that you will be able to join me there soon!
New classes are coming on the schedule and more news to come!

When I first started out on my own business, I was approached to get a table at my daughter’s school holiday fair. I knew that I wanted to make more than just accessories, and it needed to be a OSFM garment. It came in the idea of a cape or poncho, but it wasn’t trendy at the time, so I made my own version that had a belt (sorry no pic of this one, but I’m sure I have one in my archives somewhere!) They sold, and I got orders for more. After that, I made more versions for the next fair. When I opened my studio, the capes adorned my dress forms in the showroom, and what happened next surprised me. I sold a few, but when I started teaching classes, I had more requests from students to make them. It still happens today!

Pic 1 is of my newest quilted version of my asymmetrical poncho using scraps from Brooklyn Stitchery.

Pic 2 is from today’s Mom & Me class - happy students with their new capes and one new apron!

September is which means it’s time for new fall classes !! Get your machine out, pick out some new fabric and get sewing! After all, who doesn’t want a new fall wardrobe? I know that I do 😉!!
Thanks to all the students that took my classes this summer - shown here is one group from my Beginner Sewing Class, all sporting their new reversible tote bags. (I’m wearing a linen skirt from my own pattern collection).
I hope you’ll join me this fall!
