On Trans Day of Visibility, we honor and cherish trans and nonbinary youth. We see their courage, resilience, and incredible strength as they navigate a world that often challenges their right to exist and be themselves. Today is about celebrating them, their identities, and the communities that support them. At the Ali Forney Center, we remain committed to ensuring every trans young person has the safety, care, and opportunity they deserve to thrive.
Today we remember David Mixner on the anniversary of his passing — a visionary activist, mentor, and dear friend to the Ali Forney Center.
His extraodinary legacy and commitment to LGBTQ+ youth continues on through the David Mixner Memorial Fund, which supports the life-saving work of the Ali Forney Center and the young people we support.
We’re honored to be working on a short documentary about David’s extraordinary commitment to LGBTQ+ youth — and to carry forward the love, courage, and conviction that defined his life.
Thank you, David. Your voice, your heart, and your movement live on.

Lucinda's story reminds us of the importance of creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ young adults.
"I wish more people knew that trans people are just trying to live our lives like everyone else."
Lucinda came to AFC to make a plan because her family's support felt conditional. Trans people should not hide who they are in exchange for care
