ge alumni network as much as we strive to focus on the development of youth, high school, and collegiate rugby players in the greater New York metropolitan area. And always we work to develop our active players - numbering close to 250 men, women, boys, and girls - and give all levels of players and fans the opportunity to enjoy the best of what the game can offer. The NYRC Women are the premier women's team in the New York City area. Having its roots in the Gotham City Women's Rugby Club, which voted to join the New York Rugby Football Club, Inc. in 1997, the Women have appeared in the last eight Division 1 USA Rugby National Club Championship Tournaments and finished 1# in the Nation in 2006. In 2009 the Women's Premier League began and played host to the top 8 teams in the country. NYRC is proud of its' Women's program for winning the inaugural WPL National Championship in 2009 and successfully defending the title in 2010. The NYRC Men fields two competitive sides in the Empire GU. Division 2 is in a league with teams from Monmouth, Princeton, Union, Village Lions, Buffalo, Morris, Long Island, Montclair, and Rochester. We are proud of our Division 3 team who competes against teams in the NYC metro area. In 2001, the NYRC Men's Team was undefeated and named the 2001 Northeast Men's Division I Club Champion. The team also competed in USA Rugby National Club Championship Round of 16 in 1996, 2001 and 2002. This team thrives on a competitive playing environment within a strong social background and aspires to both those traditions of rugby. NYRC Men place great importance on the development of local American talent, alongside experienced players from all over the world, and welcome college players who wish to attend practices.
