Gap is trying to paper over their supplier’s illegal actions with glitzy holiday decorations. But students showed up at Gap headquarters and at stores across the U.S. during some of the busiest shopping days of the year.
We’re part of a coalition working to ensure justice for the 13 women who were illegally fired by Gap’s manufacturer The Wilbes. Haitian law protects pregnant women and union leaders in the case of layoffs. But when its supplier broke the law, Gap has so far chosen to stand on the side of the lawbreakers.
Now it’s the holiday season and Gap’s CEO Richard Dickson is bragging about the “playbook” that’s boosting Gap’s earnings. But from here, that playbook looks a lot like exploiting women & leaving workers unpaid.
It’s high time that Gap ensure the 13 women are offered their jobs back and paid their lost wages and maternity benefits.
