6 days into this long spring break and my heart opens up, ready to write, to draw, sitting in a garden on a sunny cold late afternoon, this broken back just well enough to sit outside for half an hour or whatever I can muster. Birds still chirping, an unseen solo. Tulips and daffodils in their prime. People Commute. What kind of bird are you? To see people I will never see again, mostly. The ambulance sirens. More commuters, more birds. Some of the tulips are already splayed open, their petals almost touching the ground.
