Today we celebrate Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is still worth celebrating, and that truth, justice, and hope are always worth pursuing.

As followers of Jesus, we recognize the dignity, value, and God-given worth of every person. We honor the faith, resilience, sacrifices, and contributions of Black Americans who helped shape our nation and continue to strengthen our communities.

Today we celebrate freedom.
We celebrate faith.
We celebrate perseverance.
We celebrate God’s faithfulness through every generation.
