I never knew what it would feel like to live with a narcissist. Now that I knows, first, I need to apologize for not being an ally. I had no idea. I only thought people were just being mean in relationships and not caring. Living with a narcissist is a death by a million cuts that you were groomed to ignore since the time you were born into a narcissist parental home. It's deep rooted and by the time you meet the real narcissist, you are, hopefully prepared to know how to escape like I did...

Narcissistic abuse goes far beyond simple emotional mistreatment and cannot be dismissed as someone merely acting like a jerk; it is a sustained and calculated pattern of manipulation that gradually dismantles a person's self-worth. The abuser often uses tactics such as gaslighting, blame-shifting, silent treatment, and emotional blackmail to create confusion and self-doubt in the victim, making it increasingly difficult for them to trust their own perceptions. This form of abuse can also have physical, financial, social, and even spiritual dimensions, as the narcissist seeks to exert total control over every aspect of their target’s life. The damage inflicted is deeply psychological, often leaving victims with symptoms similar to post-traumatic stress disorder, including anxiety, depression, emotional numbness, and a profound sense of isolation. Unlike common arguments or bad relationships, narcissistic abuse is rooted in a toxic cycle of idealisation, devaluation, and discard, which is both traumatising and disorienting.
