Gene has attended all my art openings for the last 11 years (a true friend) and now he’s also just completed his second Burn along with me. He’s super excited to back at Tony Clifton Studios where we can start collaborating on new works together again. We’re both feeling completely reenergized after a full week of stomping out the weak brain cells allowing for the strongest to take their rightful position on the wall of creation and slaying mediocre ideas who are not worthy of the long creative journey that lies ahead. In the haze of the deserts magical dust where imaginations run fast, wild and hard we sought inspiration and visions of beauty. We both agree that It’s through this rigorous distillation and somewhat rebellious process of attrition we’ll undoubtedly find our best art yet. Gene… You Rock!

Valentine’s Day at Crush in NevCity will feature an eclectic mix of roller skating, dancing, music, and art (www.CrushNevadaCity.com). “I’m throwing a Valentine’s Day party at my shop and Kent Bates’ art show opening is one of the many features of the party,” says Crush Owner Hollie Dilley. Kent is a creator of Neo Pop Collage Art, which utilizes retro imagery with a touch of surrealism. “My goal is to invite the viewer to awaken their imagination through the medium of collage art,” says Kent. “I explore age-old themes of outer space, religion, money, consumption, nature and fame.” Kent’s exhibition is called “Man vs. Nature” and he uses images of boxers as metaphors. “It feels as though each season is a round with nature and we go toe-to-toe, bobbing, weaving and exchanging blows with nature,” Kent explains. Crush’s free “A Love Affair” celebration – which also happens to be its third anniversary – is scheduled 6-10PM Feb. 14 and Kent’s art show runs through March 15…
