I hope this helps… 🤷🏽‍♀️

I keep seeing people say their loc extensions are slipping out when they shampoo. Because the loctician won’t braid and band them. Also they may not be installed properly.
First things first: how soon are you washing after your install? Proper aftercare matters. You should be braiding and banding before shampooing to help keep everything secure. That’s not optional—that’s basic knowledge for maintaining loc extensions.
And let’s be real for a second… if your loctician doesn’t tell you that or do it for you, it might be time to find a new one. As the client, you shouldn’t have to coach a “professional” on what they should already know. Not everyone doing hair is properly trained or certified—some are self-taught, and it shows.
Think about it like this: you wouldn’t go to a mechanic and tell them how to fix your car. If they don’t know what they’re doing, you go somewhere else. Same logic applies here.
Also, keep in mind—extensions don’t work the same for everyone. Sometimes your natural hair just doesn’t hold onto them well, and they can slip. At the end of the day, loc extensions are a temporary solution for length or fullness. They’re not guaranteed to last forever.
Personally, I’ll always recommend growing and trusting your natural loc journey. But at the end of the day, do what works best for you 🤎
