Good Roots
We cultivate mushrooms from logs, collect eggs, and spend 4 seasons harvesting a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. The food always tastes better if you're willing to get dirty. Good Roots Farm will be partnering with Legacy Cafe and Corner Store to offer premium fresh veggies to the community. Keep an eye out and we'll post when we make deliveries there! Keep an eye as we expand our homestead to include bees, meat chickens and (fingers crossed) pigs!

We spent the 4th picking figs! We have lots of good stuff and a few new items, so come by and pick up some treats for your cookout at Natchitoches Farmers Market tomorrow morning❤️ There are only 4 markets left and this is a great week for fun stuff.
The special bread this week is whole wheat fig with roasted walnut, it's gorgeous. We also have fresh fig pints, fig jam and candied figs. Thanks to one of our very first regulars from our first season, Rusty.
We have more regular and Salt * vinegar chips because y'all can't get enough.
One of the things I'm most excited to bring is the watermelon salsa. It's sooooo good. Farmer Mark also made some homemade tortilla chips for you to taste test. It's super refreshing and sweet.
We have lots off your regular favorites like garden salsa, garlic hummus, soup, pesto and pickles. Farmer Mark also made sweet pickle relish for your hot dogs and burgers.
I'm at the very end of heirloom tomatoes but I will be bringing a limited number. We used the Jubilee watermelons to make the salsa and we also have more Sugar Babies.

While Farmer Mark and I were picking tomatoes and eggplant and peppers and peas and okra and (the very first and few) watermelons, early this morning and I was dripping sweat I thought...I hope folks show up for market tomorrow, it's awful hot.
We'll be up on the bricks waiting for you and probably sweating 🤪 but man, we have made some great stuff this week.
Our special rustic bread is sundried tomato and basil and we have gorgeous roasted tomato and basil soup. If you're looking to feed your kids something fresh and amazing, it makes a perfect lunch. Farmer Mark made roasted jalapeño hummus along with our popular garlic.
This week be the last week for zucchini Pecan bread, pickled summer squash and a final batch of blackberry jelly (until next year). But we've got lots of fresh dill pickles, extra garden salsa and tzatziki.
And.... our first of the season watermelons. We only harvested a few so we'll have watermelon bites for sale and a few Sugar Babies and one big Rattlesnake. Those will be full on by the 4th. We have a few bags of our first peas and LOTS of tomatoes. We have hot and sweet peppers and the prettiest eggplant we've ever grown.
Come see us early! Get your treats and beat the heat!
