METRO NASHVILLE RECEIVES $55 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The Barnes Fund, which supports Nashville’s Affordable Housing Nonprofits, has received a total investment of $32.5 million this year from Biden's American Rescue Plan and Nashville's operating dollars.
Mayor Cooper recommends Living Development Concepts, and fourteen other affordable housing nonprofits receive a total of $16.5 million in grant funding. This is the largest funding round in the history of the Barnes Fund.
“The Barnes Fund for Affordable Housing, in the past four years, along with a combination of public funds, grants, tax credits and traditional financing has led to some of our success. This mixture of funding allowed us to complete our projects in the communities that desperately need them,” per Henry Miller, Executive Director of Living Development Concepts, one of local nonprofits set to receive grant funding.
“As a small organization, The Barnes Fund has been a valuable partner in strengthening our small organization, allowing it to grow in capacity and mission to serve families. We would like to continue this strong partnership that is grounded in common values and goals by continuing to provide affordable housing,” stated Miller.
The federal funds bring the city’s total affordable housing investments for this fiscal year, in ARP and city operating dollars, to $72.5M
