E-bikes are a convenient, affordable, and environmentally friendly way to get around. But as their popularity grows, so does the importance of battery safety.
Most e-bike fires are linked to damaged, modified, counterfeit, or improperly charged lithium-ion batteries. To reduce risk:
• Use the manufacturer-approved charger
• Avoid charging overnight or unattended
• Keep batteries away from extreme heat
• Replace damaged batteries immediately
• Purchase batteries and e-bikes from reputable manufacturers
E-bike fires are preventable. Safe charging and proper battery care help protect riders, families, and communities while allowing everyone to enjoy the benefits of e-bike transportation.

A special thank you to Firefighter Jake Rivello for presenting the Amherst Street Station with a beautiful new kitchen table.
Jake is also the owner of Rivello Heritage Works, where he crafts custom furniture from reclaimed and historic materials. This one-of-a-kind table was built from reclaimed bowling alley wood, giving new life to a piece of history while creating a gathering place for our firefighters.
The kitchen table is more than just furniture in a fire station—it's where crews share meals, train, build camaraderie, and prepare for the next call. We are grateful for Jake's craftsmanship, generosity, and dedication to making our station feel even more like home.
Thank you, Jake, for your outstanding work and for supporting your fellow firefighters!
