It’s a pleasure to announce that my new paper, “Koan or Paradox: A Brief Critique on the AI Turn and its Impacts on Microtonal Space and the Art of Composition,” has been published in 2025 Volume I of Microtonal Village by Mackingerverlag Salzburg, edited by the fantastic scholar and composer Agustín Castilla-Ávila. You’ll have full access soon and it will be available to order to your library in the upcoming weeks, from: https://www.mackingerverlag.at

In close dialogue with the Microtonal community’s current concerns, this paper offers my technical examination, critical stance, and potential optimizations on the intersection of music and AI in microtonal domains—focusing on Generative Pre-Trained Transformers such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT use, alongside close readings and analyses of Koan, auditory illusions, and paradoxes. I share a brief sketch of my major theory that I have been developing out of my doctoral work on materialism, multiplicity, chaos, vibrational forces, and dimensions as opposed to common generative systems and scalability methods. Rest will be on the book. Stay tuned!

Sight reading excerpt from Passacaille, composed by a 17th century guitar master, Robert de Visée. I improvise on it a little bit as always 🙂 Actually the original manuscripts of this time and series have just enough info on them letting the performance and composition shape each other, very different than out time isn’t it? Happy Saturday!

Hi all, I want to share SonixFlux, a generative pre-trained composer assistant! Please go to OpenAI’s generative pre-trained transformer, ChatGPT, ‘Explore GPTs’ section and search for SonixFlux for no additional cost. It should freely help your projects without pretending like you as a composer, but who knows what it will learn from you :) If you like it I will appreciate your brief thoughts on it, please just feel free to send a message to me or an email to [email protected], thanks! Originally it started simple but quickly evolved. Have fun!

Elegy for a Specter, for bowed lower string guitar 03/19/2025

I composed today a new short piece for my latest obsession what I call “the Lower String Guitar.” It will be exciting working on an amplification setup and spending time on the filter and eq, these layers of modes, spectra, and noise transformations will be quite surprisingly vibrant for the ear. Enjoy Elegy for a Specter’s first version!
