Do we expect a freshly sown tomato seed to offer us a tomato sandwich that same afternoon?
Tomatoes unapologetically seek the sun to receive what they need and Friends, what if our needs felt this fruitful?
If you have a need for seeds and transplants as well as community and cultivating culture that normalizes sharing more than selling...
..would you be willing to consider this is a gift in my life?
And I have a need to grow seeds and...

I remember ✨
When I was young 🌱
My father and I were harvesting in our garden, friends coming soon for supper 🧺
I asked him which head of lettuce to harvest 🥬
He pointed to the largest, shiniest, most resplendent lettuce in our entire garden and I asked quizzically, ‘but Dad, that’s the best one…?’
‘Exactly,’ he said ✨
Let’s get back to that 🕊️
And Friends:
I’ll always be a lil embarrassed:
Who was I hoarding that lettuce for?
Why didn’t I want to share the most gorgeous head of lettuce in our garden with beloved friends?
Dad, I’ll always be thankful that you were there to remind me, as I so often forget, to this day:
We share the best of what we have with everyone we can 🍅
We share the best of what we have with everyone we can 🌈
We share the best of what we have with everyone we can ♥️
And Friends, we’ll be sharing our seeds, transplants, stories and songs for all the seasons yet that we have breath...
..and we’re sharing them in vast, ebullient abundance now through May 23rd, don’t be shy!
Hundreds of gorgeous tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatillo plants...
..and our regionally adapted seeds in gorgeous packets...
...as well as in large bags, wide open for you to receive abundant seeds to gift your community through seed libraries, community gardens, schools and other ways we practice sharing in community 🫘

“…but surely someone needs this more than me?”
One of my favorite moments of Fruition’s first annual bulk seed gifting gathering, sharing seeds with seed libraries and community gardens, schools & so many other flavors of mutual aid, was the moment when someone whispered in my ear:
“Are you afraid people will take more than they need?”
“Ohhhhh, listen!” I said. “Our beloved friend and mentor Adam Wilson taught us to listen for a phrase people often say, when offered a gift — something not needing to earned, bought, bartered or otherwise controlled:
“…but surely someone needs this more than me?”
And sure enough, he reported a lil more than an hour later that he needed more than two hands to count how many times he had heard gracious paraphrases spoken aloud around those long, seed-laden tables 🌿
And Friends, we’ve heard it innumerable times across countless circumstances and this is among the reasons why we haven’t given up on our species yet:
“…but surely someone needs this more than me?”
The words of a heart keeping other hearts in mind. A life whose life is intertwined with all life. A person choosing connection and care often over perhaps even their own comfort:
“…but surely someone needs this more than me?”
Can you imagine hearing these words walking down a grocery store aisle? Especially when something is on sale?
These words are deeper in our bones than the need for dollars:
“…but surely someone needs this more than me?”
When will you hear these words next? How will your actions inspire them in little ways and large?

Happy Spring, Friends!
As warblers return and ramps rise:
Thank you for knowing we sow the future with every seed, breath & thought we think ✨
Which is why authoritarians have no chance of controlling cultures of caring, connected gardeners...
..and this is why we grow and gift seeds:
seeds are gifts 🌿
gifts of the earth 🌏
for us all 🐌
for all generations yet to come 🌳
growing beyond empire’s domination imagination 🌈
And Friends, our perennial note for our Plant Now charts:
Rather than offering directives, we share these lists as delightful invitations to accompany you, food for thought & reflection, reference points to nourish your own courageous creativity, emergent patterns & hope ☀️
Which is all to say!
Paying attention is one of the greatest gifts we can offer ourselves, our soil and the world 🪶
Thanks for being you & gifting your attention in all the ways that you do 🐾
