‘TV Dog’, 1982 — A barking dog shaped like a television, with buttons for a face and an atom glowing on the screen. With just a few bold lines, Keith Haring turns this strange creature into a powerful image — part warning, part reflection of a world overwhelmed by media and fear.

Haring’s art broke out of galleries and into everyday life. He built a visual language made of bold, instantly recognisable symbols. The barking dog, one of his most iconic, first appeared in 1980. For Haring, it stood for the abuse of power — a voice barking prejudice, especially against minorities.

Four decades later, ‘TV Dog’ still bites.

‘In my painting, it is difficult to say whether the central form is figurative or abstract. But that does not bother me.’ - ​Ernest Mancoba 🎨

Mancoba believed in the importance of spontaneity and freedom of expression. His bold colours and dynamic gestures reveal his painting process. Born in Johannesburg, Mancoba left for Paris in 1938. He moved to Copenhagen after the Second World War. There he became one of the founding members of CoBrA, an artist group whose expressionistic painting style was inspired by the art of children. He returned to Paris in 1952, where he lived until his death.
