What an amazing night! We had the absolute pleasure of being part of Battle of the Bands last week, and we’re beyond thrilled to share that we made it to the NEXT ROUND! 🎉🔥

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up, cheered, and believed in us. You made this possible. 💛

📅 Mark your calendars: Tuesday, OCT 7th — the semifinals are calling, and we’d love to see you there supporting SLG!

Exactly one year ago today, we stepped off the plane from Bolivia with hearts full of hope, dreams in hand, and a deep desire to build a better future for ourselves and our families. We didn’t know exactly what was waiting for us, but we knew we were ready to give it everything we had.

What followed was a beautifully bumpy ride, just as it should be when you’re starting from scratch in a new country. We learned about snowbirds and off-season the hard way (right as we arrived 😅), booked our first gig before we even had instruments, and spent those first nights sleeping on the floor, surrounded by suitcases and determination.

Through those early challenges, we were humbled, grounded, and focused. Every setback became a stepping stone, every small win a reason to push forward. It hasn’t been easy, and we still have a long way to go to reach the vision we have for SLG / The Funky Tones and our lives here, but today, we pause to say:

THANK YOU.

Thank you to the people who opened doors, gave us opportunities, believed in our music, shared a kind word, a stage, a couch, or a meal. We are constantly reminded that no one makes it alone, and that has never felt more true than this past year.

From the bottom of our hearts, and with all the love and gratitude in the world, we want to acknowledge some of the incredible people who have been part of this journey. If you don't find your name here and you feel you should be listed, you are right! so thank you!

Antonio Vacallanos, Nano Eguez, David A. Justiniano and their families.

Stoyan and Irina, the staff and everyone working at Dogtooth Sports and Music Bar – thank you for making us feel at home from day one. You saw us when we were just getting started and treated us like family.

Bob Nolen, Marshall Marshall, Steve "The Professor," Bill Trimble, and the entire Sunday crew at Dogtooth – your encouragement and friendship have meant more than we can say.

Bobby Philips, Robert Pieske and EVERYONE from Jebry's Monday Jams at Dogtooth, thank you for welcoming us into such a vibrant and supportive musical community. Monday nights gave us hope and connection when we needed it most.

Jerry Fierro and the Tuesday Mudbone Crew!

Jorge Ampuero and Jose Domenech (the big bosses)

The amazing folks at North Naples Country Club, thank you for welcoming us with open arms and letting our sound become part of your atmosphere.

Our Sneaky Pete's Bonita crew! from playing to partying, you’ve become part of our story, and we’re proud to be part of yours.

Alyona, Kevin, and our Arts Bonita family: thank you for celebrating music and art with such passion and for letting us be part of your creative community.

Martina Long, Maddy, and everyone at Arts Collier! your support means the world. Thank you for helping us build meaningful artistic roots and connectios here in Naples.

The crews from Cavo Lounge, Blue Martini Naples, Sugarshack Music Channel, Seedtotable, Brasas Bar & Grill, Wang Opera Center and so many other incredible venues who gave us a chance (and continue to do so), trusting our music to fill your rooms and your audiences' hearts – we are endlessly grateful.

To our unofficial (but absolutely relentless) friend-agents and champions:
Mary Martin, Willie Shallies, Dj Rony, Ron Green, Gregory Stone, Juan Guzman, Willie Miller, Lucas Cardoso, Lex Tsaggaris, Stacey Guerra, Luis Brito, Mason Reinek, Sara Melton, Ana Reveron, Sarah Hadeka, Sheila Reyes, Shelly Davis, Sonia Ortega, Steven Emerson, Efrem Reyes, Inoel, Kaila Love, Moonstone Riders, and every single person who went out of their way to connect us, vouch for us, and help us land gigs. Your kindness and belief in us made all the difference, especially in those early days.

And last but absolutely not least – in the most VIP way possible –
Michele, Lisa, Ricky, Paul, Linda, Deanna – you’re family, plain and simple. Your love, presence, and constant support go beyond music, and we cherish you deeply.

This is just the beginning, and we’re filled with excitement for what lies ahead. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for helping us build something meaningful. We’re just getting started and we can’t wait to keep growing with all of you by our side.

Gracias, Obrigado, Thank you, and nos vemos en el escenario.

With love,

SLG (Sudamerica Latin Groove)
