Electronic communication has radically changed how companies market their products and services and the changes are not done yet. It is an exciting time to be in marketing, if you ask me. Our work is primarily focused on helping organizations better utilize print and electronic marketing to generate more relationships with prospects and customers. They say much in life comes down to timing. The same is true in email marketing. The above stats are open rates and click-through rates for an automation series sent to new subscribers. By comparison, the same content delivered to the existing list has a 44% lower open rate than the automated campaigns. While the engagement rates for the full list are still very healthy for the list size, automation enhances engagement by getting the right content to the right person at the right time. “What’s the problem with being “not racist”? It is a claim that signifies neutrality: “I am not a racist, but neither am I aggressively against racism.” But there is no neutrality in the racism struggle. The opposite of “racist” isn’t “not racist.” It is “antiracist.” What's the difference? One endorses either the idea of a racial hierarchy as a racist, or racial equality as an anti-racist. One either believes problems are rooted in groups of people, as a racist, or locates the roots of problems in power and policies, as an anti-racist. One either allows racial inequities to persevere, as a racist, or confronts racial inequities, as an anti-racist. There is no in-between safe space of 'not racist.” ― Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist⁣

Here at Spire2, we stand in solidarity with the black community and those affected by systemic racism and injustice. The first step is to really listen to the experiences of people of color and educate ourselves to the reality of systematic racial injustice. We are currently reading How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi, and donating to Campaign Zero and Color of Change.⁣

Creativity is what's needed most right now. We've seen brands release downloadable coloring pages to keep the kiddos busy while at home, zoos live stream up close animal encounters, and restaurants create pick-up meal kits. What creative ideas have you seen or executed? Share in the comments below and we can create a virtual brainstorm session.

While many of us are not physically together at this time, we are all in this together. At Spire2, we are grateful to have already been set up to work from home. It is not about being fearful, but about caring for the vulnerable that we stay home. We are thankful to everyone who is making huge adjustments to their lives and businesses to help keep others safe. When we are on the other side, we will need to be a community to get back on our feet. A big shout out to the Wheaton Chamber for jumping in and leading the business community this week. ⁣

Who do think deserves a shout out? Comment below. Stay safe and healthy out there.⁣
