The best way to find a reliable and professional conservator in your area is to ask your local museums who they would call for advice about preserving your item. Museums and archives of all sizes work with professional conservators and preservationists, but you may have to try a few museums in your area to find one who has recent contact information for the type of item you are trying to preserve.

Preserve your photos correctly to enjoy them for years to come. Photographic prints and negatives should be placed in polypropylene or Mylar sleeves, or covered, from top and bottom, with acid-free paper. They should not be kept in direct contact with any other items. While you can use the acid-free paper to separate items that are in good repair, any fragile items should be stored in Mylar sleeves.
