Good manners deserve recognition.
The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title is a nationally recognized certification that celebrates dogs with a strong foundation of manners, training, and real-world skills. It's an accomplishment that reflects the teamwork and trust built between dogs and their people.
Napa Humane is excited to host a Canine Good Citizen Testing Day on Sunday, June 21, with visiting evaluator Lea Orloski, CPDT-KA of Canine Centric, who has more than 10 years of experience conducting CGC evaluations and earning titles with her own dogs.
Testing times:
โข 10:00 AM
โข 11:00 AM
Only 9 evaluation spots are available!
While many participants will be graduates of Napa Humane's training program, the test is open to any dog whose family feels they are ready to demonstrate the required skills. If you've been training elsewhere or on your own, we'd love to see you!
And here's something we always tell our training clients: Taking the CGC test is an accomplishment in itself. If your dog doesn't pass on the first attempt, that's okayโit simply helps identify areas to continue practicing, and you can always test again.
We're proud to help dogs and their families build the skills and confidence that lead to this milestone and look forward to cheering on the next group of Canine Good Citizens!

Meet Ani, RVT Intern
Across the country, veterinary professionals are in short supply, making it more important than ever to invest in the next generation of compassionate caregivers. That's why Napa Humane is proud to provide internship opportunities for students like Ani, who is currently attending Carrington College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.
Ani's passion for veterinary medicine began while working in an animal shelter.
During her internship, she's had the opportunity to learn firsthand about shelter medicine and spay/neuter surgeryโone of her favorite experiences so far.
When asked about her dream after graduation, her answer perfectly reflects Napa Humane's mission: "๐'๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ช๐ค๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ.
At Napa Humane, prevention doesn't just require surgeriesโit requires skilled, compassionate people to provide them. That's why we're proud to invest in the next generation of veterinary professionals through our internship and scholarship programs.

Yesterday, we shared the story of a community member who was able to access affordable spay/neuter services through Napa Humane's income-eligible program.
Stories like that don't happen by accident. They happen because our community invests in prevention.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, grantors, and community fundraising efforts, Napa Humane has funded
That means
Every surgery day helps prevent unwanted litters, reduce strain on shelters and rescues, and keep pets healthy and in the homes that love them.
Thank you for helping make prevention possible for pets and families throughout our community.
We meet a lot of amazing animals at Napa Humaneโฆ but little Kimchi truly stole the spotlight.
While being fostered for Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center by our Executive Director, Wendi, Kimchi quickly became everyoneโs favorite break-time buddy โ helping staff decompress with plenty of playtime, snuggles, and puppy antics.
Tiny but full of sass, Kimchiโs personality was larger than life, and it didnโt take long for him to win over the entire team. When he came in for his neuter appointment, we were all asking the same question: โHow has this puppy not been adopted yet?!โ
Well, weโre happy to report that Kimchi has officially found his forever home.
