God didn't wait for someone to reach up to him.
He sent a witness. He sent his Son. He opens blind eyes.
Salvation is of the Lord, from beginning to end.
That's not a threat. That's the most comforting truth in the Bible.

God didn't send an angel to prepare the way for Jesus.
He didn't send a king. He didn't send a celebrity.
He sent an ordinary man, a wilderness preacher in camel's hair, and among those born of women, none was greater than John.
Not because he was special.
But because by the power of God, he forsook everything to point to the light of Christ.
God calls the ordinary. He always has. He still does.

If Jesus never claimed to be God, explain this.
The Jews didn't misunderstand Him. They understood Him perfectly. Before Abraham was, I AM.
And when He said it again at His arrest, the soldiers fell to the ground.
There is absolutely no question who Jesus claimed to be.
He is the I AM of the Old Testament. He is Yahweh who came in human flesh.
