John 21:1–17

Today is Good Friday—the day darkness came, the day Jesus went to the cross, and the day He said, “It is finished.” And what we read today about Peter sits right in the middle of that moment. Peter said he would never deny Jesus, but when pressure came, fear took over and he chose it—three times. And when the rooster crowed, he broke down in bitter tears. Not just because he made a mistake… but because he knew he chose wrong. And that’s what makes this hit so close to home—because we’ve all had those moments. Not accidental, but intentional. The ones where we knew better and still didn’t stand firm.

But this is why GRACE matters. Because while Peter was sitting in that failure, Jesus was already on His way to the cross—carrying that very sin. Not just the small, unintentional ones, but the deep, heart-level ones too. GRACE means it’s not based on what we deserve—it flows from who He is. And when Jesus said, “It is finished,” He meant that nothing we’ve done—nothing—has the final say. That’s why Peter’s story didn’t end in those tears. Jesus came back for him, restored him, and reminded him he was still chosen, still called, still loved! 🙌🏽

And that’s why today is good. Because what looked like the worst moment became the greatest act of love. Because of the cross, failure isn’t final—GRACE is. 😭And that same grace meets us today, not to excuse us, but to restore us, remind us who we are, and pull us back to Him!!!! 🤍 🙏🏽
