Muscatine Fire/EMS Explorers

This past weekend th Explorers had some help from our Muscatine Fire Department Blue shift members and were able to get in some rappelling out of our training tower, and practiced tying various knots used on the foreground. This is one of the days our Explorers really look forward to! We also have some exciting news. Stay tuned later this week for more information, but the Explorers have received a match grant for a project they are wanting to complete that would not only help the Explorers but also Muscatine Fire Department members! Huge thank you to West Liberty Auto Parts for sponsoring one of our Explorers to go to Illinois Fire Service Institute Fire College this year! With their generosity we are able to send Jackson to IFSI at no cost to himself. Community support like this is what it's all about! It is great to give our Explorers opportunities like this to receive some top-notch training as they pursue their career in the Fire Service.

We'd like you all to meet Jackson Collins. Jackson joined the Muscatine Explorers after attending our 1st ever Midwest Fire Explorer Day with the Bettendorf Fire Explorers. Jacksons dad is now a Captain with MFD and we hope Jackson will be joining the ranks in the future! Jackson like many of high schoolers was unsure what he wanted to do. Over the past few years though he has developed a passion for the fire service and has stepped up to be one of the leaders amongst our group. He is constantly looking for ways to better himself, whether at a training night, or going to external training events. He currently is taking his EMT and has recently applied with the Muscatine Fire Department in hopes of starting off his career in the fire service. We are all so proud of all he has accomplished and continues to accomplish in and outside of our program. Thanks again to Carquest West Liberty Auto Parts for helping further his training.
