Early Trauma Hardwires the Brain for Aggression and Self-Harm - Neuroscience News 11/10/2025

Su***de, Overdose, Homicide and MV Accidents are still the leading causes of death among young people in the US.
This is more evidence supporting my hypothesis that all of these (especially when they occur under the age of 25) should be counted as "Death's of Despair"...
(a term coined to describe similar phenomena, of mostly self harm / su***de/ overdose and self inflicted organ disease (like cirrhosis) related deaths, in much older demographic).

As far as I can tell, this is a collective, socio-cultural, socio-economic, National crisis which our society has not and will not come to grips with, (let along begin to fight effectively) until we reestablish our unifying principles (such as, the collective pursuit of truth over comfort, more open, respectful, honest discourse, over signaling virtues that are not virtues at all, and standing up for what we know to be true rather than caving under the pressure of mob rule, conforming to the doctrine of the day).

In the words of the great Doctor Roland Fryer, "If you want to help people you tell them the truth". We don't want to give the wrong prescription for solving the problem because we are too afraid of our collective shadow to face the multifaceted causes.

Early Trauma Hardwires the Brain for Aggression and Self-Harm - Neuroscience News A new study reveals that aggression and self-harm share a biological foundation in the brain’s response to early-life trauma.
