Growing up, Sunday nights meant gathering around the television to watch The Ed Sullivan Show. Sullivan had a remarkable gift for discovering and introducing extraordinary talent to America. On February 9, 1964, he famously introduced The Beatles to millions of viewers — inspiring kids like me to dream about being in a band someday.
But years before Beatlemania, Sullivan was already making history in an even more profound way. In 1948, he introduced Pearl Bailey to mainstream American audiences, becoming one of the first major television hosts to consistently feature Black artists during a deeply divided era in America. Soon after came legendary performers like Harry Belafonte, Nat King Cole, The Supremes, and The Temptations — often despite resistance from sponsors and network executives.
What moved me most was not only Sullivan’s willingness to showcase their incredible talent, but the genuine respect and warmth he showed his guests. At a time when America was still heavily segregated, Sullivan openly embraced these artists on national television, sending a powerful message of dignity, equality, and humanity.
After watching the documentary Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan, I felt inspired to write this song. I hope this music video honors that legacy of courage, inclusion, and the unifying power of music — and that you’ll enjoy sharing it with your friends.

45 RPM & our audeinces LOVE MOTOWN MUSIC. We are planning a future MOTOWN MAGIC show. Ed Sullivan promoted talented African American musicians into the living rooms of a very "white America" in the 40's, 50's & 60's on his Sunday evening variety show. WATCH the documentary SUNDAYS BEST on Netflix to see the inspiration for this song.
