Military Spouse Appreciation Day – May 8, 2026

We are excited to celebrate Macomb County super foster parents Jen and Denny Dera on receiving the highest foster home recognition in the state, the annual DHHS Foster Family Excellence Award 👏 Please show them some love ❤️

They have taken in over 40 foster placements since 2017, and currently have 5 teen girls they care for. Living in Harrison Township, they also run a family business in Downtown Mount Clemens called Capture A Moment Photography. They have generously donated their photography services to the Macomb Foster Closet, where they also bring their foster kiddos to shop throughout the year.

Jen said “what keeps us motivated to do this work is we still talk to every girl who was in our home.” That’s what it’s all about, bonding with these kids so they know someone truly cares about them and cheers on their success and happiness!
