OK, can we talk about how much St. Paddy’s Day changes when you have kids?
I remember when St. Paddy’s Day meant gettin’ me Oirsh on — terrible accent fully committed — a little day drinking, and the most stressful part of the day was strategically avoiding any Guinness (sorry, that stuff is nastiness personified).

Now?

Now it’s 9:47 p.m. and I’m tearing apart the laundry room looking for a single green sock so no one gets pinched at school. It’s realizing at bedtime that we forgot to set up the leprechaun trap. It’s engineering an emergency “state-of-the-art” leprechaun containment system out of an Amazon box and half a granola bar at 10:30 p.m.
It’s:
Kids crying because they forgot to build a leprechaun trap.
Kids crying because they think the leprechaun won’t come.
Kids crying because what if the leprechaun DOES come.
Me crying because why is there glitter everywhere.
