By applying their expertise in a real-world environment, Airmen enhance their readiness, strengthen partnerships and deliver meaningful results that support both the mission and the communities they serve.

From Hatchery to Heritage… 🌲

Master Sgt. Amber Johnson, 163d Civil Engineer Squadron, California Air National Guard, serves as the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Redwoods Innovative Readiness Training project, who aids in leading a joint effort between the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, the Yurok Tribe Construction Corp. and the National Park Service to transform the 90-year-old Prairie Creek Fish Hatchery into a community education center dedicated to the historic hatchery at Redwood National Park.

Through the IRT program, Johnson and her team coordinate cross-service teamwork and hands-on training opportunities that not only enhance military readiness, but also deliver lasting benefits to the local community.
