A Root Awakening

they don’t care that i’m sick; they just want their alkaline water.. 🙃🙃

life’s knocked me down quite a bit, but the plants didn’t die & neither did i. 🫶🏽
i’m still here. and so are they. 💚

LOOK AT MEKO’S NEW LEAF 😭🥺🌿
this one’s big, glossy, and confident, like it knows it belongs.
watching Meko grow never gets old.
little reminders like this make all the care and stress feel worth it. 🌱💚

GOOD MORNING FROM THE PLANT GANG 🌞🌿
it’s 83° & sunny outside today (a high of 84° w/ a low of 61°), so we’re spending some the morning outside catching some rays ✨
with clear skies & a light breeze, it’s the perfect weather for their leaves to stretch out & soak up some sunshine 🌱💚
(i repotted my dumb canes & now they’re giving me a run for my money; we don’t talk about it 😤)

don’t judge my house—cuz i will judge a hairline and clap back 😌✨
anywayyy, i gave the place a little refresh and did some plant rearranging. 🧹
i was over them being low on the wall (and catching belle’s tail every time she walked by 🐕), so i swapped my big bookshelf from the bedroom into the “littles” spot, and moved the smaller one back into the bedroom. the little brown shelf got relocated beside the couch so it can soak up better light 🌞🌿.
also… still obsessed with these wooden stands. check the comments for the plug— my little cousin even has the bigger one 🫰🏽

woke up to new sprouts today. it’s a small thing, but it feels like a little victory 🌱✨
i’ve been debating giving up on some of them— feeling like maybe i’m not good at this but seeing these tiny green beginnings reminds me that growth just takes time, care, and patience 💭
here’s to keeping at it, even when it feels hard 💚🌿

been a little quiet on here lately… life had me tied up; between divorce drama and celebrating logan’s birthday. 🌿
sometimes roots grow in silence, and that’s what i’ve been doing a little bit of too 💚
recently i grabbed two big alocasias from the clearance rack (clearance on $9.98 = $4 each: $7.63 total) and after repotting, i found a little surprise… 😳
👉🏽 tucked in the soil were 19 corms 👈🏽
for anyone new to alocasias, or plants in general, corms are like hidden storage pods that can grow into brand new plants. basically, any plant that needs to store energy underground for the next growing season might develop corms. in alocasias, corms act like little backup plants waiting for the right conditions to sprout. 🌱
so here’s to fresh starts, new growth, and letting things root even when it feels messy. 💚✨

my plants might sit around all day being ‘useless’—
but at least they don’t leave socks on the floor, forget trash day, or hog my bed. 🌿😂🤷🏽♀️

🌱 being a plant parent is cool… until your dogs extendo-tail decides it’s a medieval weapon and smacks half a brand-new monstera leaf right off before it even had the chance to unfurl 🐕💔
i’d been watching this leaf for weeks… waiting, excited, and beyond proud because its on my monstera. then belle came by, happy as ever, gave one big wag — and just like that, my dreams were shattered 😩
rip little leaf; you were taken too soon and i know you would’ve been beautiful 💔🪴
