The Kentucky State Police (KSP), Morehead Post would like to offer periodic reminders to drivers who travel our roadways. Our agency strives daily to ensure the safety of the motoring public. Some of these proactive measures include various roadside safety checkpoints and saturating known problematic areas in the district through general patrol tactics.
The Kentucky State Police utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists using the public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide high visibility, public safety service, focusing on operator impairment, vehicular equipment deficiencies (confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles) and the valid licensing of drivers. Other violations of law and/or other public safety issues that arise will be addressed.
These checkpoints will allow the Kentucky State Police the opportunity to periodically concentrate its efforts in checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws that will ultimately increase the safety of the citizens within the Commonwealth.
Post 8 serves the following counties: Bath, Elliott, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Powell, Rowan and Wolfe.
Traffic Safety checkpoint locations in the Post 8 District may be located at our web site:

Post 8 would like to congratulate Trooper Jordan Barnett, on being recognized at MADD Kentucky’s Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Event.
Trooper Barnett was honored alongside law enforcement officers from across the Commonwealth for his dedication to keeping Kentucky roadways safe.
Law enforcement officers serve as a critical partner in the mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). While impaired driving begins with an individual's decision to drink or use drugs and get behind the wheel, officers provide the vital enforcement and intervention necessary to prevent tragedies before they occur.
This recognition reflects Trooper Barnetts’ commitment to public safety, impaired driving enforcement, and protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Today, Post 8 Troopers gathered at the cemetery to honor and remember Fallen Trooper Anson Blake Tribby a hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice in name of service above self!
Trooper Tribby answered the call to serve with courage, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. Though his watch ended far too soon, his legacy of service, sacrifice, and selflessness will never be forgotten.
We remember not only the uniform he wore, but the person he was a son, friend, brother in gray, and a protector of the people of Kentucky. His sacrifice serves as a solemn reminder of the risks our law enforcement officers face each day in service to their communities.
Please join us in honoring the memory of Trooper Tribby and keeping his family, friends, and fellow Troopers in your thoughts and prayers. We will forever remember his sacrifice and ensure his legacy lives on.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9
